[NL lager] - 350 Belgium, Gastivists and JNM are happy to present you with a training and info session which will answer all your questions about gas and climate change, what we can do in Belgium and what’s up with the mass action of civil disobedience against gas in the Netherlands this summer (Code Rood).

3pm-6pm : Training : Why gas stinks

Come find out why so many groups in Europe are resisting new gas infrastructure and how to support them in their struggle. We will explore why gas is bad for our climate and for social justice, what infrastructure is planned in Belgium and Europe, why we have such a good opportunity to act now and what the role of Fluxys is in all of this. We will then discuss how we can resist these new fossil projects and the key role that can be played in Belgium.

The workshop is given in English, a translation into Dutch is possible.

6pm-7pm : shared dinner

In their first action of massive civil disobedience in 2017 Code Rood (Code Red) blocked with 350 people the Amsterdam coal harbor for a whole day. This year they will tackle Europe’s biggest gas field in Groningen in the north of the Netherlands. Since the 1960’s Shell and Exxon have drilled there for gas with severe impacts on nature and the local population. In the region there have been over 1000 earth quakes in the last two decades. 100,000 households live in buildings that are damaged and partly in danger to collapse. Nevertheless, Shell is not willing to pay compensations. Therefore, Code Rood will organize a Climate Camp and an action of massive civil disobedience from the 24th to 31st of August 2018. Together with the local population they will draw a red line against the fossil gas industry.

[NEDERLANDS] Gastivists, 350 Belgium en JNM zijn heel erg blij om jullie deze dag te kunnen presenteren over de strijd tegen gas in Europa. Hier kan je terecht voor al je vragen over gas en klimaatverandering, wat we daar in België aan kunnen doen en meer te weten komen over de actie van massale burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid tegen gas in Nederland deze zomer (Code Rood).

Kom naar deze workshop om te weten te komen waarom mensen over heel Europa zich verzetten tegen nieuwe pijplijnen, LNG terminals en andere gasprojecten. We lichten er ook de rol van België toe - welke projecten zijn er hier gepland en welke projecten worden er vanuit België gefinancierd - en wat jij kan doen om te helpen in de strijd tegen gas !

De workshop is in het Engels, maar vertaling naar het Nederlands is mogelijk.

7pm - 9pm : Code Rood Infosessie
Code Rood is een actie van massale burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid in Nederland. Vorig jaar legden ze tijdens een eerste versie een steenkoolterminal in de haven van Amsterdam plat met 350 mensen. Dit jaar verschuift de focus naar de gaswinning in Groningen. Shell en Exxon boren al jaren naar gas onder Grondingen, waardoor nu al 100,000 gezinnen wonen in woningen beschadigd door aardbevingen. Van 24 tot 31 augustus trekken we samen een rode lijn tegen deze praktijken. Samen draaien we de gaskraan dicht !
